they're armed the same like the mainline,but can close the gap,reinforce,and even stop any flanking units if your flank defender is having a trouble These units rank are rarely used in early game,but sometimes used in Mid to Late Games. These guys will do most the killing,and the most who died.These units can be mostly armed with Spears,Sword,and for Versatility Naginata To damage routing units,and maybe shatter them.
